Barbara’s life began September 12, 1931 in Watervliet, Michigan. She graduated from Watervliet High School on June 8, 1950. She met the love of her life, Richard ‘Sonny’ Hiler, while working at the local dime store. They were married on June 10, 1950 in Bangor. Barb was a lifetime area resident who worked most of her adult life beside her husband on their farm where they raised four daughters and created years of cherished family memories. She also worked at JC Penney’s. Barb enjoyed filling her time crocheting, sewing, flower gardening, bird watching and making crafts. Being a gifted artist she expressed her talent through many mediums including drawing, charcoal sketching, ceramics and painting. She was also an avid hunter and bagged two nice bucks.
Barbara’s greatest joy was caring for her loving family which includes: four daughters Dianna (Ed) Chandler, Linda (Tommy) Wakefield, Lorraine Jack, and Joyce Noble, 14 grandchildren, 23 great grandchildren, 10 great great grandchildren, a sister Mary Lou, and many nieces and nephews. Especially in her final days, she loved praying with her family and restating her trust in the Lord Jesus Christ. She was an inspiration of strength and faith in Him.
Barbara died Thursday, December 15, at home surrounded by her loving family.
