Joseph “Joe” Weldon Garner, 68 of Coloma, passed away at his home Wednesday May 17, 2017 amidst his beloved family. Joe was born August 24, 1948 to SeDella and Eanis Garner in Union City, TN. In 1951 the family relocated to Southwest MI. Joe attended Benton Harbor High School where he made life long friends and met his one and only true love, Cindy. Joe married Cindy December 16, 1967 at the Methodist Peace Temple Memorial Chapel. In 1975 Joe and Cindy chose to adopt a son, Scott Anthony, named after one of his best friends. 3 years later in 1978 they completed their family by adopting a daughter, Melanie Lynn.
Joe was a hard worker and proved this with 28 years at New Products Corporation in Benton Harbor, MI. Eventually in 1997 Joe and Cindy fulfilled a dream of owning and operating their own business. Together they drove over the road expediting for Express One out of Buchanan, MI.
During his life he shared with his family and friends the love of camping and fishing. Many trips were made all over the states with his folks, friends and later his children. Joe also enjoyed playing the guitar and singing country songs. Joe played in a band in the mid 60’s. The band played in the Beer Gardens at The House of David. Later he picked the guitar for the pure love of it for his family. The guitar was a ritual around camp fires or just sitting around the house passing time.
