Tina L. Cheske, 52, of Benton Harbor, passed away on Sunday, August 6, 2017, at Lakeland Medical Center – St. Joseph.
A Celebration of Life Service will take place on Wednesday, August 9, 2017 at 11:30 AM at Starks & Menchinger Chapel & Cremation Services, 2650 Niles Rd., St. Joseph, with Pastor Brian Rumer officiating. Friends may visit with the family from 10 AM until the time of the service at the funeral home. A private burial will take place at a later date. Tina was born on November 13, 1964, in South Haven, to Lawrence & Hazel (Rye) Mix. She graduated from Benton Harbor High School. On September 30, 1996, she married David Cheske, and the two recently renewed their wedding vows in Coloma. Tina was a proud member of the Pokagon Band of Potawatomi and New Life Church. For many years, she helped with church bulletins, cleaning the church and counseling people about the Lord. Tina also volunteered for the Forgotten Man Ministries and was an Awana Leader for Bible study. She enjoyed fishing, camping, hiking, traveling, playing cards with her family, dancing and puzzles. Most of all she loved her family. Tina was a loving and kind person who was always willing to help anyone. She will be missed dearly by all.
Tina is survived by her husband of almost 21 years, David Cheske; children, Jesse Joiner & Jamie Cheske both of Benton Harbor; mother, Hazel Mix of Hartford; siblings, Dawn Soldaat of Hartford, Lawrence Mix of Coldwater, and Thomas Mix of Muskegon; brothers-in-law, Joe Cheske of Benton Harbor and Mike (Audra) Cheske of Benton Harbor; and numerous nieces & nephews.
Tina was preceded in death by her father, Lawrence Mix and grandmother, Elsie Rye.
