Carl E. Kuyat, 89, of Sodus, died Thursday, June 7, 2018, at Royalton Manor in St. Joseph.
Carl was born September 15, 1928, in Chicago to William and Hulda Kuyat. They later moved to Sodus, where he lived most of his life as a farmer. In July 1962 he married Ester Hartlerode. Carl was well known and liked in the community. He loved working in his shop after retiring from farming.
He is survived by his wife, Ester; children: Brett Kuyat, Ronald Hartlerode, Sheila Hartlerode, DenaHartlerode, and Craig Hartlerode; five grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and three sisters: Clara Dansfield, Frieda Williams, and Emily Bauschke.
A Memorial Service will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday, June 19, at Grace Lutheran Church, 404 Glenlord Road, St. Joseph, MI 49085, followed by lunch at 11:30. Friends may visit with the family beginning at 10 a.m. Donations may be made to Grace Lutheran Church in lieu of flowers.
