Jeanette lived her life to the fullest, following the example of her favorite Bible verse, “Today is the day the Lord has made; let us rejoice and be glad in it.” (Psalm 118:24) Jeanette was a life-long resident of South Haven, and she dearly loved her home town. She was born there to Herbert and Sadie Geraldine Buelow, who preceded her in death. Jeanette attended school in South Haven and developed close friendships that lasted her life time. Jeanette was married at age 20 to Jack M. Seiler. They had four children who were all raised in their home on Ravinia Drive. Jeanette loved to entertain, and held countless pool parties in the summers (when she and her children were not at the beach). She taught her children to appreciate the beauty in the world. They recall many a summer eve, stopping by Sherman’s for ice cream cones, then driving to the beach to view the beautiful sunsets. Jeanette attended Peace Lutheran Church (formerly First English Evangelical Lutheran Church) for her whole life, serving at special events, and on a variety of committees. Jeanette loved her church and church members. She was a third grade Sunday School teacher for many years. She felt it was a privilege to teach the word of God to children. Jeanette has always been fond of young ones, and especially enjoyed her great-grandson, Brady, in her later years. Jeanette married Art Roderick in August of 1993. They traveled extensively together, enjoying numerous trips in various parts of the world. Art was a tour guide and enjoyed planning many of the trips. But Jeanette was always happy to return to her beloved home and family in South Haven. She felt fortunate that most of her family lived nearby, and wonderful memories of numerous holiday and birthday gatherings provide comfort for all of her family. Jeanette was a stay-at-home mom for many years, enjoying being a room mother every year in her children’s classrooms. As her children grew, she delved into a new career in the world of real estate. She first became an agent, and loved meeting new people and matching the right person to the right home. Jeanette was a top agent in South Haven for a number of years. She later became a broker and owner of her own real estate company in South Haven, retiring in 2002.
She is preceded in death along with her parents by a brother-in-law – Douglas Wattrick.
Jeanette is survived by her loving husband, Arthur “Art” Roderick, her four children, Laurie (Chuck) Palanca of Kalamazoo, Linda (Carl Baker) Davies of South Haven, Richard (Beth) Seiler of Holland, and Ronald (Joy Lynn) Seiler of South Haven, her sister, Lorraine Wattrick of South Haven, eight grandchildren, Claire, Ariel, Jacob, Hannah, Sarah, Joey, Sadie and Luke, a ninth grandchild, Devin, who resides in Heaven, and 4 great-grandchildren, Reece, Knox, Flynn and Brady. She is also survived by numerous beloved cousins, nieces and nephews.
