Loretta was born Thursday October 5, 1961, in Michigan City, Indiana. The daughter of the late James and Jacquelyn (Wright) Thompson. Loretta married Gary Lee Hunt on March 23, 1981. In their 37 years together they had two amazing children, many loved pets, lots of beautiful flowers, and endless belly laughs. Loretta knew the perfect quilt for everyone and could skillfully make her ideas come to life. She also enjoyed crocheting, playing games and watching football. Loretta never hesitated in speaking her mind, she had sass and spunk that began at birth. She was always able to remain upbeat and positive through many of life’s hardships making her memorable even to strangers. Loretta always made you feel comfortable and accepted, you could be yourself around her. She was a second mother to any friend of her kids and had a special place in her heart for her exchange student, Zuzka. She is extremely loved and will be missed by every person in her life.

Her surviving family include her devoted husband: Gary Hunt; her children: Nicolle (Jon) Styf, Adam (Kasey) Hunt; mother: Jacquelyn Schneider; siblings: John (Alice) Thompson, James Thompson, and Nora (Skip) Hansen, stepbrother David (Lonnie) Schneider; and lots of friends near and far.
Loretta is now with her loving stepfather Floyd Schneider and grandmother Thelma Robbins.

—- A personal note from Gary —-

Dear family and friends,

Loretta Jo Hunt has passed. Known as Loretta Jo Thompson in H.S. she was one of my best friends growing up. Her stepfather Floyd Schnieder (God rest his soul) was a huge influence in her life. She was a Schnieder every bit as much as a Thompson.

Loretta loved my family with that rich true love she held for her own. Loretta always had a special kind of light that came from deep within her: truly Joyful and Thankful. You could see it in her. Loretta certainly had challenges in life, but she refused to let those define her. She would much rather speak of her many blessings – choosing to focus on the challenges of her friends and family.

My Sweetheart has now lost her battle with life. Gone home to be with her Lord God Almighty. She will be sorely missed.

Arrangements have been entrusted to Pike Funeral and Cremation Services, Boyd Chapel. 9191 Red Arrow Hwy, Bridgman.
