Ken was born November 17, 1939 to Max and Helen (Long) Schulz. The youngest of three children, he spent much of his youth growing up in Three Oaks before moving to Benton Harbor. On June 18, 1966, he married Cheryl Doolen of Benton Harbor (formerly of Tyler, TX).

Ken was an avid fan of music, primarily jazz, big band, and swing. He played the trombone from his early school days through to his later years in life, including a stint in “The Dynabones”, a trombone band in the St. Joseph, MI area. He was also a devoted fan of his two favorite sports teams, the St. Louis Cardinals and the Notre Dame Fighting Irish. Ken loved animals, particularly cats holding a soft spot in his heart. But most of all, Ken loved his family and closest friends dearly, and was always willing to help them out whenever he could.

Ken is survived by his two sons, Karl Schulz and Kurt Schulz, both of Benton Harbor; sister, Eileen (Schulz) Giorgio, of Chicago (formerly of Three Oaks), and nephews, Christopher Giogio and Kevin Giorgio, both of Chicago.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Max and Helen; wife, Cheryl; older brother, Bill Schulz and his nephew, Steve.
