Eleanor F. Marquardt, 101, of Sodus, passed away, Monday, February 10, 2020 at her home.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held 11:00 A.M. Thursday, February 13 at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church, 1965 Broadway, Benton Harbor, with Rev. Josh Bishop officiating. Burial will follow at Crystal Springs Cemetery in Benton Harbor. Friends may visit with the family from 10:00 until 11:00 A.M. Thursday at the Church. Memorial donations in Eleanor’s name may be made to Good Shepherd Lutheran Church, Michigan Lutheran High School or Caring Circle Hospice. Eleanor was born January 17, 1919 in Benton Harbor to Ralph & Amalie (Hauch) Schultz. She learned the ways of farming helping her parents on the family farm. On January 29, 1938 she married Albert Marquardt in Benton Harbor. After raising her family, Eleanor went back to work helping her brother & sister on their farms, and helping her son in his meat processing business. She was a hard worker, working well into her 90’s. Eleanor was a member of Good Shepherd Lutheran Church where she was a member of the choir, the Altar Guild and the Ladies Bible Hour. In her free time, she enjoyed the time spend with her family and many friends, embroidery, and gardening.
Eleanor is survived by her daughter-Sharon (Richard) Herman of Sodus; six grandchildren-Russell (Gina) Herman, Candace Scholl, Jeffery (Diana) Marquardt, David (Jessica) Marquardt, Garth (Rebecca) Current, Maiya (Craig) Fitch; six great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces & nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband Albert; two sons-Allen & Thomas Marquardt, her daughter-in-law Marjorie Marquardt, two sisters-Madelin Schaub, Norma Langer, and her brother Raymond Schultz.
