Gloria Jean Morris, 77, passed away on Tuesday, September 12, 2023, in Cassopolis, Michigan.
Gloria was born on June 25, 1946 in Lansing, Michigan to the late Virgil H. Lietzke and Eleanor (Shepard) Hosler.
Along with her parents, Gloria was preceded in death by her daughter, Laura Kay, and her great-grandson, Coldyn.
Left to cherish the memory of Gloria are her children, Michelle (Tim) Purucker, Greg (Jan) Rausch, Jim Petersen, and Linda Meeks ( Justin Stryfe); 10 grandchildren; 13
great-grandchildren; and siblings, Joyce (Dennis) Dalenberg, Bryon (Sharon) Lietzke, Darlene (Tom Sr.) Cauffman, and Bruce (Judy) Lietzke.
Gloria’s career included several years as a qualified medical assistant for Portage Manor. Her passion for helping others was strong, as she loved the many years she was employed with The Sisters of the Holy Cross. Gloria further enjoyed her quiet time and the companionship of a good book.
Gloria was an avid reader, her thirst for knowledge and understanding was insatiable. She found solace in the pages of books, often losing herself in the stories they told. Her love for reading was only matched by her passion for Scrabble, a game she played with strategic precision and a competitive spirit.
The beauty of a sunrise, the serenity of a lake, the rustling of leaves in the wind; these were the things that truly brought her joy. Gloria was a simple woman, not one for extravagance or pretense. She will be deeply missed, but her spirit will live on in the hearts of those who knew her.
The family of Gloria will have a private celebration of life. Per Gloria’s wishes her final resting place will be in Eagle Michigan. There will be no services held at this time.
Arrangements have been entrusted to Brown Funeral Home, Niles.
