Elizabeth was a devoted and caring mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt, great-aunt, cousin and friend. She passed away on September 23, 2023, after battling a short illness.
Born to Albert Scott, Sr. and Magnolia Scott on February 18, 1952 in Helena, Arkansas, she married her beloved husband Tony Briggs after high school on July 29, 1972. Drafted during the Vietnam war, Tony was stationed in Italy where Elizabeth would soon join him as a military wife. After returning to Michigan, they had two daughters and shared an endless love that spanned five decades.
Her job as The Financial Advisor for Patient Accounts at The South Bend Clinic enabled her to help others and make a difference in the lives of many. She also held the role of Treasurer at St. Matthews Missionary Baptist Church of Buchanan that gave her a great sense of pride and honor.
Elizabeth had a natural love of spending time in the kitchen and loved creating delicious home cooked meals and desserts for her family and church events. She was known for her compassionate nature, charismatic personality, and loving heart that touched all who knew her.
Elizabeth leaves behind a legacy of love through her daughters Lisa and Toni Briggs, 5 grandchildren: Devon, Cheyanne, Autumne, Savannah, and Navaya, and 8 great-grandchildren. She was also a cherished sister to Albert Scott, Jr., Jeff Mullins, and Jennifer Mullins.
A memorial service will be held in her honor on Saturday November 11, 2023 at 1pm at Hoven Funeral Home, 414 East Front Street, Buchanan, MI, 49107. Join us in remembering her remarkable life.
