Phyllis Anderson, 89, of South Haven Michigan died November 24th, in her home by the water. Just the way she wanted it. Born in Philadelphia to Morton and Mickey Weitzenhofer, she moved to the Northwest suburbs of Chicago as a young adult, where she married, raised her family, and worked until she retired to South Haven, MI. She fell in love with South Haven because it reminded her of the Jersey Shore, and she stayed for the wonderful friends and community she found here.
She is preceded in death by her husband Rich Bloecker, daughter Marcie Hahn, sister Lynn Walters and furry companion Bella.
She is survived by her daughter Stacy (David) her grandchildren Bridgette, Kelly, Quinn and Daine, brother Charles Weitzenhofer (Vickie) and many beloved nieces, nephews, great grandchildren, and friends.
Phyllis had many successful careers – paralegal, mortgage broker and finally until she retired at age 85, water aerobics instructor at the Wellness Center. She was a force to be reckoned with, loved to have fun, and would take anyone willing along for the ride. If Helen Reddy had an image in her head when she wrote “I Am Women” it was Phyllis in her hot pants, riding the train into Chicago, to start the day at her para-legal business. She was unstoppable. In addition to her family, she loved Neil Diamond and to cook, ski, play tennis, dance, and entertain friends. She knew everyone, had a million stories the likes of which most people don’t live to have one. And, until the day before she died, wondered who else could we invite to Thanksgiving dinner. Bottomline, she was an inspiration, one hell of a gal and will be missed by so many.
