Eddie was born on March 18, 1945 in Berrien Center, Michigan to the late Eddie Williams and Ethel (Bracy) Johnson.
Along with his parents, Eddie was preceded in death by his sister, Joyce Boyd and brothers, Bob Conley and James Brown.
Left to cherish the memory of Eddie are his loving children, Eddie Boatright Jr, Camilla Boatright, Carmen Boatright, Ena (RV) Boles, and Corey (Nicole) Boatright; siblings, Margaret Bryant, Bruce (Mabel) Boatright, Gretchen Williams, Randy Williams, Mark (Kimberly) Jones, and Robert Bacon. He is also survived by a host of grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Eddie, a proud and valiant veteran of the Vietnam War, was honored with a Purple Heart, reflecting his courage and dedication to his country. His service was a testament to his willingness to give of himself, a trait he carried through all aspects of his life.
Eddie’s passions were as eclectic as the antiques he cherished. His zest for life was evident in his love for chess, fishing, and his impressive collection of African artifacts. Known for his keen sense of humor, Eddie could always be counted on to light up a room with laughter. His meticulous care for his flower, fruit, and vegetable gardens revealed his green thumb, a skill he took great pride in.
Among his many interests, Eddie had an appreciation for fine vehicles, a reflection of his appreciation for the finer things in life. But beyond the materiel, his lasting legacy will be the warmth and love he shared with all who knew him. Eddie will be dearly missed, forever remembered, and will continue to inspire through the cherished memories he leaves behind.
Visitation for Eddie will be on Friday, February 23, 2024 from 11:00am to 12:00pm with a Funeral Service to be held at 12:00pm at Mount Calvary Baptist Church, 601 Ferry St. Niles, MI 49120. A private burial will take place at Fort Custer National Cemetery where full military honors will be rendered.
