Colin D. Cowan, 65, of Stevensville, passed away, Thursday, March 7, 2024 at his home, surrounded by his loving family.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held 11:00 A.M. Saturday, March 16, 2024 at Starks & Menchinger Chapel, 2650 Niles Rd., St. Joseph, with Rev. James Whitman officiating. Friends may visit with the family from 9:00 until 11:00 A.M. Saturday at the funeral home. Inurnment will follow at Riverview Cemetery Columbarium in St. Joseph. Colin was born August 29, 1958 in Larkhall, Scotland to Malcolm & Catherine (Drummond) Cowan. After the family moving to Benton Harbor, Colin graduated from Benton Harbor High School, Class of 1976. On October 15, 1977, he married the former Karen Hickman in Berrien Springs. Colin pursued his love for driving, and began driving truck at eighteen years of age. Since 2011 he owned & operated Big P Express in Benton Harbor with his son-in-law Rob Saroni. Colin was a member of Granger Community Church in Granger, Indiana, the St. Joseph Masonic Lodge #437 and the Saladin Shriners. He enjoyed the time spent riding his Harley, cruising on his boat on Lake Michigan, and most of all the time spent with his family and numerous friends. He will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.
Colin is survived by his wife Karen; his children-Kristy (Rob) Saroni of Eau Claire, Karrie (Justin) Turner of Berrien Springs, Brandon (Fiance Jessica DeWyse) Cowan of Watervliet; seven granddaughters-Bailey, Morgan & Avery Turner, Ellie & Lexie Saroni, Emmersyn & Addilyn Cowan; his brother Andrew Cowan of Stevensville, his sister-in-law Betty Cowan of Benton Harbor; nieces & nephews-Jacqueline (Mark) Demski of Eau Claire, Malcolm (Jenny) Cowan of St. Joseph, Kristopher (Alecia) Hickman of Berrien Springs & Ryan Hickman of St. Joseph; his work buddy Noah (Emily) Melton of Coloma and his long-time close friend & fishing buddy-Garry (Pat) Zick of St. Joseph. Colin was preceded in death by his parents and his brother Malcolm Cowan.
