On Saturday, March 9, 2024, Andrea Schaub passed away at home at the age of 85.

Andrea was known for her wise counsel, quick mind, and avid interest in Politics. She was born at St. Bernard’s Hospital in Chicago, Illinois on December 26, 1938. On September 20, 1958, she married Bennett L. Schaub in Muskegon, Michigan. They soon relocated to Mountain Home, Idaho where Bennet was stationed at The Mountain Home AFB. They returned to Berrien County, Michigan, soon after to have and raise their family.

In addition to her talents in business, Andrea was an amazing cook and baker. Often called upon by family and friends for wedding or birthday cakes or for making a dish to cater to 200 people. Family meant everything to Andrea. So much that she had several “adopted children”. She was energized by her children and took great delight in her grandchildren hosting an annual Christmas Party just for them.

Andrea was preceded in death by her parents, Joseph G. and Andrea A. De Fay; her, brother Joseph B. De Fay; and her, sister Judith De Fay.

She is survived by her children, David Schaub, Carolyn (Robert) Krueger, Patrick Schaub, Michael Schaub and Jennifer Sullivan; grandchildren, David (Kitty) Schaub, Danielle (Jared) Whalen, Andrea Sullivan, Sidney (James)Tilly, and Michaela Schaub; great-grandchildren, Gavin Schaub, Jared Schaub, Amelie Schaub, Ella Whalen, Bradlee Whalen, Juniper Tilly. Sisters, Loretta Kasmer, Ann Anderson, and Margie Hayduk; and her brothers, William (Lenore) DeFay, Robert (Ellen) De Fay, Michael De Fay and David (Michele) De Fay. Andrea was blessed with an abundance of nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews, and great great nieces and nephews, cousins, and friends.

A Memorial Service will be held on April 12 at 12 PM at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 220 Church St., St. Joseph, MI. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation in memory of Andrea Schaub to the Alzheimer’s Association or American Cancer Society. Arrangement entrusted to Starks & Menchinger Chapel, 2650 Niles Rd., St. Joseph, MI.
