National Day of Prayer

May 5, 2016 @ 12:20 pm - 12:45 pm

| Free

Thursday, May 5, 2016 marks the 65th Annual National Day of Prayer and will be celebrated locally in front of South Haven City Hall – 539 Phoenix Street – from 12:20pm to 12:45pm. This year’s theme is Wake Up America, emphasizing the need for individuals, corporately and individually, to return to the God of Fathers in reverence for His Holy Name. To further highlight our theme, we’ve chosen Isaiah 58:1a as our Scripture for this year: “Shout it aloud, do not hold back. Raise your voice like a trumpet.”

All citizens of South Haven and its surrounding areas are welcome to gather and offer prayers for our government, country, military, youth, family, media, churches and businesses. Local clergy, schools and public officials are involved in the program. In the event of rain, the program will be moved into the City Hall Chambers.

The National Day of Prayer is an annual observance held on the first Thursday of May, inviting people of all faiths to pray for the nation. It was created in 1952 by a joint resolution of the Untied States Congress, and signed into law by President Harry S. Truman.
