Teresa Irene Yakim, 61, of Niles, passed away on Sunday, May 14, 2023, at Lakeland Regional Medical Center in St. Joseph.
She was born in Dowagiac, Michigan on August 26, 1961, to the late Garland and Janet (Meachum) Sink.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her brother, Lloyd “Bud” Sink, and her husband Joseph Yakim; and a grandson, Anthony Deforest.
Teresa is survived by her sons, Robert (Shellie) DeForest of Florida; Thomas Deforest of Niles; step-son, Joey Yakim of Niles; two grandchildren; and her siblings, Jerry (Sue) Sink of Buchanan; Barb Phillips of Dowagiac; and Bonnie (Jim) Justice of Dowagiac.
In keeping with her wish’s cremation has taken place, her family will host a memorial gathering at a later date.
Memorial contributions in Teresa’s memory may be directed to the Southwest Community Action Center in Cassopolis.
