Linda Scherer, 79, life-long St. Joseph resident, passed away, Saturday, January 13, 2024, at her home, surrounded by her loving family.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held 11:30 A.M. Thursday, January 18, 2024 at Starks & Menchinger Chapel, 2650 Niles Rd., St. Joseph, with Rev. Tom Bird officiating. Burial will follow at North Shore Memory Gardens in Coloma. Friends may visit with the family beginning at 10:00 A.M. Thursday at the funeral home. Linda was born December 9, 1944 in St. Joseph to Leslie and Margaret (Beckman) Pullins. She graduated from St. Joseph High School, class of 1963. Linda married Phillip Scherer in St. Joseph and devoted her life to her caring for her family and her home, and was a caregiver to family members and friends when they were in need. Linda was a long-time member of the former St. Peter’s UCC and worked at the voting polls for St. Joseph Township for thirty years. Linda enjoyed tending to her flower gardens around the house, entertaining her family and friends at the backyard pool and other special occasions as well as spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren and her many friends. Linda enjoyed trips to New York to visit family and to Las Vegas. She will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.
Linda is survived by her children-Dr. Phillip (Michele) Scherer, Jr. of Brooklyn, NY, Cathy (Jerry) Fechner of St. Joseph; three grandchildren-Ryan Fechner, Amanda (Michael) Campanella, Dana Scherer; her great-granddaughter Aria Campanella; her sister Marianne (Bill) Sanders of Rochester, NY; sister-in-law Barb Pullins of St. Joseph; and numerous nieces & nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband Phillip, Sr. on December 23, 2000, her parents, and her siblings-Leslie, Robert, George & Donald Pullins and Margaret Evans.
