After a lengthy battle with cancer, Lois Jean Purdiman, 60, of Benton Harbor transitioned on Thursday, May 18, 2017, in the arms of her husband, Claudell Purdiman.
Services will be held Friday, May 26, 2017, at New Paradise Baptist Church, 287 S. Crystal Ave., Benton Harbor, with visitation at 11 a.m. and services at noon. Burial will take place at Crystal Springs Cemetery, Benton Harbor.
Lois Jean (Johnson) Purdiman, was born July 31, 1956, in Benton Harbor. Lois received her associates degree from Lake Michigan College in restaurant management. She worked for Henry’s Hamburgers for over 35 years. During that time she became the manager until her illness prevented her from continuing.

Lois was baptized in 1998 by Rev. R. Chester Gulley of the New Covenant Community Baptist Church where she attended until the Lord called her from labor to rest.

Lois leaves to cherish her legacy her husband of 44 years, Claudell Puriman; children: Stacy (Tamika) Johnson of BH, Malinda (DuShawn) Powell of East Chicago, IN, and Carl (Lisa) Purdiman of Portage, MI. (2) sisters: Sheila Moore, Gwendolyn Moore, Helen Ferguson and Marie Ferguson; brothers: Micheal Ferguson, JoJo Ferguson, Charles Ferguson, Charles Williams and Corlin Moore; uncle, James (Lucky) Brown; 16 grandchildren, three great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, in-laws, and other relatives and friends.
Lois was preceded in death by her father; her mother, Gollie Mae Johnson; son, Donald Ray Purdiman; brother, Willie (Tickle) Barnette; and sisters, Nadine Williams and Marilyn Sterling.
