The Winter Concert presents pieces by the three ensembles of the Lake Michigan Youth Orchestra: the Concert Strings, the Encore Strings and the Youth Symphony. The three ensembles reflect the advancement to more complex music as students progress on their instruments. Highlights of the concert include Rosin Eating Zombies from Outer Space by Meyer, “Jupiter- the Bringer of Jollity” from The Planets, by Holst, Lord of the Rings – The Fellowship of the Ring, by Howard Shore, and Concertino for Viola da Gamba & Small Orchestra by Rudolph Dolmetsch performed by special guest Phillip Serna – Valparaiso University professor.
