Hazen Dewey “Bud” Harner, Jr., 84, of Eau Claire, MI passed away on Monday, December 25, 2017, at Lakeland Medical Center in the presence of his loving family.

A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 11 AM on Friday, December 29, 2017 at Chapel Hill United Methodist Church, 4071 Naomi Rd., Sodus, MI with Pastor Mark Mitchell officiating. Burial will follow at Caldwell Cemetery in Eau Claire. Visitation will be held prior to the service on Friday from 9 AM until 11 AM at the church. Bud was born the youngest child of Hazen, Sr. & Anna (Johnson) Harner on October 7, 1933. He graduated from Eau Claire High School in 1951. On November 23, 1957 he was united in marriage to Beverly Menchinger in Benton Harbor. They were happily married for 58 years before her passing on December 15, 2015. And for those 58 years, they managed a successful family farm in Eau Claire, always seeing potential in every piece of ground. Bud was a 3rd generation, lifelong, farmer and who served as Supervisor to Pipestone Township for 42 years and proudly served our country in the United States Army. He was also a member of Michigan’s Sheriff’s Association and Chapel Hill United Methodist Church, where he volunteered as a trustee and usher. Bud was an incredible man who loved life and those around him; he will be missed dearly by all.

Bud is survived by his sons, Jeff (Sandy) Harner and Brian (Anita) Harner both of Eau Claire; grandchildren, Lindsay (Steve) Stuckey of Eau Claire, Hazen (Teal) Harner of Eau Claire, Sydney Harner of Benton Harbor, Zachary Harner of Eau Claire, Jackson Harner of Eau Claire and Carston Harner of Eau Claire; four great-grandchildren; sister, Laverna Glassman of Eau Claire; brother-in-law, Ernie (Irene) Menchinger; sister-in-law, Clara Menchinger; and many nieces & nephews.

Bud was preceded in death by his wife, Beverly; parents, Hazen, Sr., & Anna; and sisters, Amy Hiler and Iona Green.
