TAPESTRY DANCE COMPANY & THE CLARITY STRING QUARTET START A NEW TRADITION OF COLLABORATION AS THEY PRODUCE REFLEXIS
Long-time friends Christina Kelly & Sarah L. Hannich have dreamed up a beautiful collaboration between music and movement as their two performing groups, The Clarity String Quartet and Tapestry Dance Company, join together for their first ever co-production, Reflexis: contemplating what it means to bear a divine image in music and art.
Tapestry Dance Company is run by Artistic Director Sarah L. Hannich & The Clarity String Quartet will feature Christina Kelly (Violin I), Laura Sackett (Violin II), Nathaniel Kelly (Viola), and Angela Chen (Cello).
Reflexis explores a Christian perspective on the journey from today’s pain-filled world to salvation’s restoration of God-reflecting beauty and love. The collaboration features two major pieces with live music and original choreography: “Sky” & “The Prayer.” Additional performances from each group expand on the themes of self-discovery and redemption. Stepping outside of the typical classical repertoire, The Clarity String Quartet will be performing pop selections that evoke the concepts of darkness and hope, including arrangements of “Mad World” by Tears for Fears and Katy Perry’s“Firework.” Illustrating the challenges to human dignity, Tapestry will perform their 2016 work, “The Window,” a stirring glimpse into human trafficking.
Reflexis: contemplating what it means to bear a divine image in music and art brings artistic, personal, thought-provoking, professional work to Southwest Michigan with a new combination of local performing artists. Won’t you come join us?
Reflexis is a donation based event Friday July 28th 2017 at 7:00pm at the Chapel at 4250 Washington Ave, St Joseph, MI. Suggested donation is $10/person.
