This talk focuses on the first generation of major Michigan automakers, from the 1890s up to World War II. Anderson discusses why Detroit became the Motor City (as opposed to Cleveland, Indianapolis, or any of a dozen other cities), and looks at some of the larger-than-life personalities that founded the important companies. Matt Anderson is Curator of Transportation at The Henry Ford Museum in Dearborn, and former Curator at the Heritage Museum. Admission is free / $5 suggested donation.
